Brain games is a fun and social competition consisting of a variety of fun and interesting puzzles and games, such as fan-favorite blindfolded pair programming as well as new features such as our Code Blocks scavenger hunt and an Estimathon!
You and your team of up to 4 will be challenged to use your creativity, logic, and problem-solving skills to solve fun challenges and meet new friends! We’ll be providing free lunch, prizes, and exciting events!
Blindfolded coding
Blindfolded coding: This pair programming competition is an ultimate test of your teamwork skills! One team member will be designated as the typer and blindfolded. Only the typer can touch the keyboard, so everyone else will need to verbally guide the programmer to solve some quick programming challenges.
Estimathon
Estimathon: In this test of your team’s estimation skills, you’ll work together to guess the answer to fermi questions, such as the number of taxis in NYC (for example, you could guess 10k-100k). You provide your answer as a range, and, if you’re correct, the smaller your range the more points you get!
ICS Wiki-Racing
ICS Wiki-Racing: Put your problem solving skills to the test in this fast-paced game of ICS Wiki-Racing! You and your team will start at a random Wikipedia page and race other teams to reach a computer science related term using just internal links. Only one person can click, but teamwork is key. Everyone must strategize, search (Ctrl+F is your best friend!), and think of the quickest route to the destination, but beware, what path you choose, you can’t back out of. Choose your links wisely!!
Code blocks
Code blocks: Code blocks is a fun scavenger hunt where you and your team will follow clues and solve small puzzles to earn small “blocks” of code to try to be the first to find all the components of a particular line of code that does something!
